Comedy, drama and love were the themes when students take to the stage for an evening of student-directed one-act plays April 9-12 to open the 2015 Festival of Student Work.
- Mara Johnson, Carlton, directs “Springtime,” a dramatic story about two women who are in love with each other.
- Abigail Oelke, Big Lake, directs “The Acting Lesson,” a comedic story depicting the difference between a real relationship and an acted-out relationship.
- Blayke Riggs, Brooklyn Park, directs “Foreplay: Or the Art of Fugue,” an absurdist comedy about the repetition of starting relationships.
The directors were overseen by professor Brenda Wentworth, and several additional theatre department students were involved with the plays as actors, stage managers and costume designers.
One-act play performances were held 7:30 p.m. April 9-12. Tickets cost $5, free with a St. Cloud State ID.
The one act-plays are part of the Festival of Student Work, which includes an evening of films by students and alumni April 24 and a series of staged readings of student playwrights April 28-30.
