St. Cloud Times – Reed Allex will never forget Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old St. Cloud sprint car driver got the opportunity of a lifetime by going against the best sprint car racers in the country as the World of Outlaws made a tour stop at the Granite City Speedway (GCS) in Sauk Rapids.
“I had to take a step back and realize that I’m running against the absolute best out here,” Allex said. “It doesn’t get any better than this. This really is a dream come true.”

Allex, who swims for the St. Cloud State swimming and diving team, had plenty of support in the stands. He said he couldn’t count how many friends and family were in attendance.
Allex’s swimming coach, Jeff Hegle, brought his entire family out to watch Allex. Hegle had only watched Allex drive once before in Ogilvie.
