The students of Heels and a Stage Theatre Company are welcoming their classmates back to campus with a presentation of the fairy tale mock-comedy “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.”

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27-29 and 2 p.m. Aug. 30 Performing Arts Center Arena Stage. Admission is free, but donations are suggested. Proceeds go to support the activities of Dramatic Action, a student organization whose theatrical activities complement their curricular activities with the department.
The one-act play by Don Zolidis features two narrators and a cast of actors attempting to tell all 209 Grimm fairy tales — both popular and obscure — in one two-hour play.
The narrators argue about how best to tell the stories, and comedy ensues during a mad dash to the end to fit in all the tales. The students presented a shortened, family-friendly version of the show at the Lemonade Concert and Art Fair in June.
The completely student-run production includes student directors and actors as well as student designed lighting, sound, costumes and props. Many of these students will do double duty by acting in the play as well.
Students of the theater department have been presenting a student-run show the first week of classes for the past three years as a way to promote the theater program and student theater groups. Students presented “(Almost) A Very Potter Musical” in 2014 and “the Final Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” in 2013.
