St. Cloud Times — Romaine and Raymond Hoffarth will soon be celebrating their 90th birthdays — on the same day.
These twins were New Year’s babies in 1926. Today the two men are hale and healthy and love to banter with each about old times and their lives. Born on the southeast side of St. Cloud, they grew to manhood together, separated for a stint in the U.S. Navy, and came back together to marry, raise families and live out their lives in Stearns County.

The boys attended Riverview Elementary School, often referred to as the Lab School at St. Cloud Teacher’s College, now St. Cloud State University. The classes were small, 15-18 students in the school. When the boys got into scrapes with other boys, Ray said, it was usually he who started the fights, but Romaine stepped in and helped him when the going got tough.
