Pianist and composer Stephen Drury will perform the classics in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. March 18 in the Performing Arts Center’s Ruth Gant Recital Hall.

He will present a program of music by Beethoven, Chopin, Fredric Rzewski and Helmut Lachenman.
Drury has performed throughout the world and has amazed audiences with his interpretations of the music of Beethoven, Liszt and more modern composers.
He was named “Musician of the Year” by the Boston Globe in 1989, the same year he was awarded a Solo Recitalist Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts.
In addition to performing works by well-known historic performers, Drury has commissioned new works for solo piano from modern piano.
As a member of the prestigious New England Conservatory piano faculty, Drury is also a passionate, dynamic teacher and conductor. He has given master classes throughout the world.
He will present one of his master classes at noon March 18 in the Performing Arts Center’s Recital Hall.
Both events are free and open to the public.
