Celebrate St. Cloud State weekend is the last chance to tour historic Eastman Hall before it is renovated.
Guided tours of the 88-year-old building are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14.

Eastman will be re-purposed for student services and health sciences academic programs. Construction, which could begin in January, will renovate 43,291 gross square feet and build 15,562 gross square feet.

Plans call for an outdoor plaza facing the Mississippi River. Construction is expected to be complete by spring 2019.
The tours will focus on the gymnasium, fitness room and swimming pool. Displays in the gym will include historic photos, floor plans and architect’s renderings.
Plans call for parts of the former physical education and recreation facility to be integrated into the new building. Granite, pool tiles, woodwork and the red SC initials on the gym’s center court are among the items under consideration, said Phil Moessner, assistant vice president for facilities management.
The building will be turned over to contractors in October. Contractors are expected to do asbestos removal this fall. Expect windows to be removed and replaced with boards during asbestos removal, said Moessner.
Project architect is RSP Architects, Minneapolis. Construction manager is Terra General Contractors, Rogers. The third-party hired to represent St. Cloud State and the Minnesota State system during construction is Pegasus Group, St. Paul.
The Legislature backed the project with $865,000 in design funds in 2014 and $18.6 million in construction funds in 2017.
