KARE 11 — Will Borgen never thought much about going to the Olympics.
“I mean, I watched the movie Miracle. I never looked at the Olympics thinking that I’d be in that,” he said.
When the NHL announced it would not allow it’s players to play in the 2018 games, Will, a junior defenseman at St. Cloud State, received an email from USA hockey alerting him he was on a short list of potential players to represent Team USA in PyeongChang. Still he didn’t really think everything would fall into line until a few weeks ago when he found out he’d made the team.
