Laura Kalambokidis, Minnesota’s State Economist and head of the Economic Analysis unit at Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), will join local and regional economists for an in-depth Economic Outlook panel Feb. 4.
St. Cloud State University’s Winter Institute has been a leading conference on economics, business conditions and economics education for nearly six decades. Due to the pandemic, a full-scale, in-person event will not be held this year.
The Economic Outlook will provide local business leaders and community members with an outlook of the economy as it pertains to central Minnesota through international, national, state, and local lenses.
Luke Greiner, regional analyst for the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). He serves central and southwestern Minnesota. Greiner researches, writes, and presents on Greater Minnesota’s economy, job market, industry trends, career and educational decision making, and higher education outcomes.
Louis Johnston is Professor of Economics at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, where he has taught since 1997. Johnston specializes in macroeconomics, economic history, and the connections between economic policy and economic history. Johnston writes a column on economics and the economy for MinnPost and is a guest on Minnesota Public Radio, WCCO Radio, and Twin Cities Public Television.
“The Economic Outlook will be very important for business leaders and public officials as we begin to exit the pandemic,” said King Banaian, dean of the School of Public Affairs. “Many national forecasts predict a strong second half of the year, and our panel will consider what that looks like in our region and state.”
Dean Banaian, who is also a professor of economics, will offer a local economic forecast and moderate the panel.
