St. Cloud State University’s official Fall 2020 Commencement is not until March 12, but that’s not stopping celebrations from occurring virtually now.
This December, 1,070 students from 29 countries and 18 U.S. states are earning degrees from St. Cloud State. The degree earners include 51 associate degree students, 798 undergraduate students, 222 graduate students and 9 doctoral students.
Honors include 95 undergraduates earning Summa Cum Laude, 152 earning Magna Cum Laude and 151 earning Cum Laude cords.
President Robbyn Wacker, Provost Dan Gregory, Student Government President Surkhel Yousafzai and Alumni Relations Director Terri Mische are among the faculty, staff and students congratulated graduates in a Virtual celebration at noon Dec. 18 on the Commencement website. The official in-person ceremony will be held March 12 in accordance with guidelines for gatherings from the Minnesota Department of Health. In addition, students are receiving a graduation package in the mail to help them celebrate their graduation until the official ceremony. Students interested in participating in the March 12 ceremony can connect with the Commencement team at [email protected].
Even though students and faculty cannot celebrate in person yet, many students are joining with their professors to celebrate graduations virtually in a series of virtual and distance recognitions this week occurring in homes and apartments across the state, nation and world.
Fall 2020 graduates are welcomed to join in by posting their celebration photos and videos on social media and tagging @stcloudstate with the hashtag #SCSUGrad2020!
