St. Cloud State Student Veterans Organization leads Patriot Day Flag Raising

The St. Cloud State University Veterans Resource CenterStudent Veterans Organization and Fighting Saints Battalion ROTC sponsored the 2021 Patriot Day Flag Raising on Sept. 10, observing and reflecting on the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Student Veterans Organization Interim President Nelia Peterson addressed the crowd during the flag raising, with St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis also making remarks and St. Cloud Cathedral High School senior Elijah Biniek playing “Taps.”

Marking the 20th anniversary of events that occurred on Sept. 11, those assembled outside the Administrative Services Building took a moment of silence to remember those who died in the attacks, including 343 firefighters and 60 police officers. 

The St. Cloud Police Department and St. Cloud Fire Department also participated in the flag raising on campus.
