St. Cloud State University students were honored and recognized during a reception in the Kiehle Gallery in the Kiehle Visual Arts Center on April 19 to kick off the 56th annual Juried Student Exhibition.
The exhibition, which will be on display through April 28, features a dynamic range of 29 pieces by 23 School of the Arts student artists selected from 75 submissions. Each year, the Art Department invites an outside juror to select artworks for the juried exhibition. The 2022 juror is Twin Cities-area artist and photographer, Pao Houa Her.
The exhibition awards ceremony opened up the reception, with faculty announcing the Juror’s Choice Awards, the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Purchase Awards and Dean’s Recognition Awards.
St. Cloud State students McKenzie Kuberka, Kourtney Fauk and Breanna Rhodes were recognized as Juror’s Choice Award winners, an honor that is accompanied with a $200 prize.
Students Brandon John, Zephyr Lynn, Isaiah Okongo, Elizabeth Sederstrom and Makayla Zimmerman were named College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Purchase Award winners, a recognition where the college purchases artwork from the show to keep in the University’s art collection.
