The St. Cloud State University Veterans Resource Center, along with the Student Veteran Organization, Fighting Saints Battalion ROTC and SCSU Music Department, held the annual Veterans Day Program on Nov. 10 ahead of Veterans Day on Nov. 11 to show appreciation for and recognize our nation’s veterans.
The event began with a picture in the Atwood Memorial Center followed by a program and social in the Atwood Alumni Room.
The program featured a speech from combat veteran Paul Braun, who shared his story of service in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard, the brother he found in his interpreter, and his attempts to bring his interpreter and family to the U.S. following his departure. Braun’s story has been featured on CBS, made into a TV show, as well as an award-winning and Emmy-nominated documentary called The Interpreters.
