St. Cloud State University student Winston Johnson was in the national spotlight in November after being nominated for a 2022 National Student Production Awards (NSPA) Emmy Award.
Johnson, a Music Teaching major at St. Cloud State, was one of five nominees for a NSPA Emmy Award under the Music Video category. Johnson’s music video “2020 Vision” was created while he was attending high school at St. Cloud Tech High School.
Johnson’s video had already won a 2022 Upper Midwest Emmy, being selected under the Crystal Pillar for Outstanding Achievement in High School Music Video category.
The NSPA Emmy Awards are selected by the Foundation of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), with nominees being selected from over 2,000 student entries across the country in 25 programming and craft categories. The Emmy Awards are viewed as the gold standard in the television broadcast industry, recognizing some of the top talent throughout the country.
