St. Cloud State University Outdoor Recreation Program completed a nine-day trip during Spring Break 2023, traveling over 10 states while visiting six national parks.
The trip offered a variety of hot springs, sand, mountains, deserts and much more to help keep students outside and try new activities. Throughout the adventure, the group hiked a total of 23 miles and drove 4,362 miles. Hikes varied in difficulty rating ranging from beginner to advanced.
All trips are led by Assistant Director of Campus Recreation Melissa Bates and are open to SCSU students, faculty and staff.
“Spring Break trips are a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills and enjoy an activity in a safe and supportive environment,” said Calvin Diggs, Director of Campus Recreation. “Transportation, camping fees, food and select gear is included in the trip cost, making these trips an affordable experience for students. Spending time outside during Spring Break with OR will leave you ready to tackle the rest of the semester with new friends and an amazing experience under your belt.”
Students can register for trips via Huskies Connect or by emailing Melissa Bates at [email protected]. Spaces are limited. Most trips are geared toward beginner levels, but experienced adventurers are also welcome.
