The St. Cloud State University’s Veterans Resource Center and Student Veterans Organization sponsored and organized the 2023 Patriot Day Flag Raising on Sept. 11, observing and reflecting on the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Student Veterans Organization President Isaac Reich opened the ceremony with an addressed to the crowd in attendance with St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis, a SCSU alumnus, also making remarks to conclude the flag raising. Reich and Student Veterans Organization Vice President Alec Bathgate raised the flag before the ceremony, followed by Eli Biniek performing “Taps.”
Marking the 22nd anniversary of events that occurred on Sept. 11, those assembled outside the Administrative Services Building took a moment of silence to remember those who died in the attacks, including 343 firefighters and 60 police officers.
The St. Cloud Police Department and St. Cloud Fire Department also participated in the flag raising on campus.
