St. Cloud State University students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to participate in a week-long series of events during the week of Sept. 18-22 during “Huskies Days of Caring.”
In collaboration with the United Way of Central Minnesota’s Days of Caring 2023, SCSU’s Department of Campus Involvement is hosting multiple events to provide opportunities to volunteer throughout campus.
Days of Caring week at SCSU begins Sept. 18 events in the morning and afternoon. From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. that morning, there will be a Bigs on Campus Information Session held in the Alumni Room of the Atwood Memorial Center. Anyone on campus can learn about how to become a mentor to a St. Cloud middle or high school student through Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Minnesota. The second event takes place from 1-4 p.m. on Sept. 18, a Campus Clean Up where individuals can help beautify our campus. All supplies will be provided and check-in will be located at Husky Plaza.
Events continue on campus on Sept. 19 with a second Bigs on Campus Information Session from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Alumni Room in the Atwood Memorial Center. On Sept. 20, there will be a volunteer opportunity at the Huskies Food Pantry from 12-2 p.m. in Hill Hall 190. Participants will help stock our weekly food shipment at the pantry, which supports learning, wellness and student retention by providing free nutritious food options and self-care/hygiene items for SCSU students.
To conclude Days of Caring week at SCSU, a Winter Clothing Drive will occur from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sept. 21 in the Atwood Memorial Center by Copies Plus. Anyone can bring in new or gently used winter coats or other cold weather gear to donate to SCSU students in need.
