St. Cloud State University is partnering with other community businesses, organizations and institutions to help area high school students explore career opportunities and potential interests in higher education.
SCSU is a partner for the annual Exploring Potential Interests & Careers (EPIC) event, which takes place Oct. 27 at St. Cloud Technical & Community College featuring about 5,000 area high school students.
The hands-on career exploration event is composed of interactive experiences simulating career activities students may pursue through educational paths. Career fields that are included in this year’s event include:
- Marketing, Sales and Service
- Business, Management, Administration and Finance
- Hospitality and Tourism
- Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
- Transportation, Distribution and Logistics
- Manufacturing and STEM
- Architecture and Construction
- Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication
- Information Technology
- Health Science
- Human Services
- Education and Training
- Government and Public Administration
- Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security
SCSU, which has taken part in the EPIC event the last four years, will have representatives participating in activities involving Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication, Human Services, Education and Training, and Government and Public Administration. SCSU Esports and UTVS will also take part while collaborating on a joint activity.
EPIC initiatives are built on community collaboration with a focus on helping students discover passions, career paths and to build the Central Minnesota workforce. This event has a direct tie to SCSU’s It’s Time framework in showcasing the academic excellence of SCSU and the University’s commitment to serving the students and workforce needs of Central Minnesota and beyond.
