The SPARK STEM Conference will bring over 600 local students in grades 3-8 to St. Cloud State University’s campus to experience STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) on Jan. 4.
There are also more than 100 educators and volunteers working on campus throughout the day to make the annual student conference possible, which includes hands-on, experiential learning.
Participants can choose from 3 of the 23 STEM sessions, which includes “Cryogenics the Science of the Ultracold”, “Insect Safari” and “Pew Pew! Can a laser vaporize metal?” All students will also get a demonstration on the physics of Yo-Yo’s from Dazzling Dave Schulte.
The event runs from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Wick Science Building, and the halls will be filled with future mathematicians, engineers, computer programmers and more.
