St. Cloud State University celebrated the official launch of the SCSU Honors College on Jan. 30 with a program held in the Atwood Memorial Center Alumni Room.
The SCSU and surrounding communities gathered to learn more about the direction of the Honors College, as well as top priorities for the upcoming year and how to become involved.
During the program, remarks were made by Dr. Abbey Zink, SCSU’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, as well as Dr. Jennifer Cavalli, Executive Director of the Honors College, and Honors College Faculty Fellows Jason Lindsey and and Jennifer Quinlan.
SCSU’s Honors College empowers academically talented and motivated students to reach their full scholastic, service and leadership potential. This is accomplished through challenging coursework with engaged peers and faculty, co-curricular activities that foster international and diversity awareness, commitment to civic engagement and critical thinking.
In the Honors College, students will develop skills needed to pursue any career through close one-on-one interaction with faculty and Honors mentors, experiential learning opportunities at all levels of curriculum, and guided and independent research. Being an Honors student gives SCSU students an edge with employers, graduate, medical or law schools.
