Immersion Data Solutions (IDS) will be hosting Huskies Hack from Feb. 16-18 in ISELF, giving students the opportunity to get hands-on experience solving a real industry problem.
Huskies Hack is a 48-hour hackathon where students will team up to address four real challenges from IDS. At the end of the event, student teams will deliver a report and presentation outlining their proposal to address the challenge.
“Students use innovative ways to tackle these challenges while working with mentors from the company,” said Isaac Olson, Experiential Learning & Outreach Director for the College of Science and Engineering (COSE). “It’s a great way to hone skills in teamwork, communication and technology. Students often have to learn new software or technologies to even begin working on a challenge. At the end, it’s often the team that communicated their project the best that wins, not necessarily the project that took the most work.”
IDS is offering $1750 in prize money, including $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
The event will launch on Friday, Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. in ISELF 110 and will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. in ISELF. Huskies Hack is sponsored by IDS, COSE and the Computer Science Club.
