The National Dance Coaches Association has named St. Cloud State University Dance Team’s head coach Brittany Kwallek as a College Coach of the Year finalist.
Kwallek has coached for six years, leading the team to five national championships and 11 top-three finishes.
“There is so much growth and development that happens in these years, and we have the opportunity to teach important life lessons through dance,” Kwallek said about coaching. “We get to coach them to be leaders, change makers, partners and young adults who will have grit, passion and self-confidence. There is no greater position than to be able to make an impact on the lives of young adults.”
Prior to coaching, she was on the SCSU Dance Team for 5 seasons and served as captain for 2 seasons. In Kwallek’s first season as captain, the team achieved their first national title in the Open Pom category.
Kwallek is an SCSU graduate with a B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in School Counseling, and she currently serves as the Assistant Director of Admissions for the University.
