St. Cloud State University’s Student Veterans Organization was honored with a Rock-On award from St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis ’81 on June 27 during the Granite City Days Opening Ceremony in Ritsche Auditorium.
Veterans Resource Center Director Kristin Hughes and SCSU students were also individually recognized as winners. The awards are announced each year at the start of Granite City Days, St. Cloud’s annual city festival. Rock-On awards recognize people, groups or organizations which foster better relationships and strengthen the St. Cloud community.
The Student Veterans Organization (SVO) represents the approximately 500 veterans, current service members enrolled, military/veteran dependents and spouses attending SCSU.
The goal of the SVO is to provide a connection and peer support to military and military-connected students during their academic journey and to create meaningful relationships to campus and the community. The SVO does fundraising to contribute to our student veterans emergency fund and plans student-led on and off-campus activities.
