St. Cloud State University is offering faculty members hands-on opportunities to experiment with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and applications via a monthly “Faculty Focus on AI” series this spring.
Sessions will be held in SCSU’s AI and Visualization Lab (ISELF Room 101) from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. each month, beginning with an introduction event on Jan. 30. It will give educators the opportunity to explore practical applications for AI and see firsthand how it can streamline classroom tasks and enrich learning experiences.
SCSU Visualization Engineer Mark Gill, Assistant Professor of Art Dr. Celi Monroe, and Dr. Dave Blanchard, Director of Online and Distance Learning, will lead the monthly sessions.
“This series will help advance our campus community’s collective knowledge of how to use AI in teaching, across disciplines and in the community,” Gill said. “Attendees will leave with actionable insights and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.”
Faculty will see firsthand how AI can streamline classroom tasks and enrich learning experiences, and then have time for creating their own assignments and classroom resources.
Participation is free and open to all campus members, although the exercises will cater to faculty uses. Computers will be provided for a handful of participants. If your laptop is up to date with university tools, please feel free to bring it to connect. Contact Mary Clifford, SCSU Honors College Faculty Fellow, for more information at [email protected].
