St. Cloud State University Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs Ajay Panicker has been chosen to participate in the 2025 Becoming a Provost Academy (BAPA).

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) selected 30 talented higher education leaders for the 2025 BAPA cohort. The cohort includes leaders from 20 different U.S. states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

BAPA is designed for experienced deans, assistant or associate provosts and other academic administrators who aspire to become provosts to understand the expectations of the role and the skills needed to be effective in today’s higher education landscape.

“I am honored to be selected to participate in this academy,” Panicker said. “I look forward to learning from nationally recognized leaders in higher education and the cohort of peers from various institutions.”

Since 2016, 135 BAPA participants have been elevated to provost positions at AASCU member institutions, and 36 have gone on to become presidents or chancellors.
