The St. Cloud State University Community Garden is celebrating its 20th anniversary this fall, marking two decades as a vibrant space for sustainability, hands-on learning and community connection.
A 20th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Thursday, September 25, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Community Garden, located at the intersection of 5th Avenue S and 6th Street S on SCSU’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Guests are invited to gather in the garden to reflect on its history, celebrate its impact and experience the newly established Healing Garden, designed to deepen the garden’s mission of connecting people, land and culture.
The evening will feature music, food and community as participants honor two decades of growth and shared vision. Jupiter Moon will also reveal a new, unique ice cream flavor at the event that incorporates ingredients from the garden.
“The Community Garden has served as a bridge between campus and community — fostering environmental stewardship, food justice and shared learning as people work together to grow food, share ideas and build lasting connections,” said Garden Director Tracy Ore. “This celebration is both a look back at what we’ve accomplished together and a look forward to what’s possible.”
The SCSU Community Garden was founded in 2005 as a collaborative space where students, faculty and community members could engage in sustainability practices and cultivate meaningful connections. Over the years, it has grown into a landmark of experiential education and community-building in Central Minnesota.
