St. Cloud State University students were honored this summer at the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists in St. Paul.

SCSU Biological Sciences graduate students Elizabeth Favor and Spencer Ott won awards at the conference. Favor won the Raney Award for her research on camouflage in sharks, while Ott won the Storer Award for best student poster in ichthyology for his presentation on fossil fishes.

Biology professors Matthew Davis and Jennifer Lamb and atmospheric and earth science professor Sarah Gibson gave oral presentations at the conference, along with SCSU graduate student Meghan Larson.

In addition to Favor and Ott, graduate students Allison Peck, Morgan Miedema and Aimee Hruska gave poster presentations.

The event had over 650 participants from around the world studying the biology of fishes, sharks and rays, along with amphibians and reptiles.
