New Husky Dome continues to serve vital purpose for SCSU, community

St. Cloud State University’s Husky Dome is now available for community rentals for the 2025-26 season.

The new dome was first inflated in November and has a similar design to the previous dome. The original dome was taken down in April 2025 for the final time after reaching the end of its expected 20-year lifespan.

The Husky Dome is now more energy efficient, as old lighting has been replaced with LEDs.

“The Husky Dome is such an asset to our programs,” said Director of Athletics Holly Schreiner. “It’s an advantage for our teams to play on the same surface throughout the entire year, and it provides an amazing opportunity to host home games at a time that normally would not be permitted by the weather.”

The Husky Dome was first inflated in December 2004, and it covers Husky Stadium during the winter months. Beyond being a vital facility for SCSU Athletics, it serves as a revenue generator for the university as a community rental space for activities and recreational sports.

Husky Stadium is the current home field for men’s and women’s soccer and softball, and it hosts baseball practices under the dome in the winter months.

Architecture firm ISG of Mankato designed the new dome and infrastructure, while contractor Ebert Companies of Loretto was awarded the construction project. Over the summer, electrical and gas line modifications and concrete work were completed. This fall, they replaced the mechanical units and led the initial dome installation.

Future seasonal takedowns and installations will be done by student-athletes as part of the “Dome Day” tradition.

The Husky Dome is available for rentals and reservations from mid-November to mid-April each year. Visit the SCSU website for pricing details and more information.
