St. Cloud State University welcomed community college advisors from across the state to campus for the annual SCSU Transfer Summit on Jan. 30.
The event is part of SCSU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships with community college colleagues and ensuring a seamless, supportive transfer experience for students.
The Transfer Summit provided an opportunity for advisors to connect in person, share insights and align practices with a common goal: helping transfer students transition successfully and thrive at SCSU.
“Community college advisors play a vital role in guiding students through the transfer process,” said Montana Schleppenbach, associate director of SCSU Admissions. “By bringing advisors to campus, we are able to build stronger relationships, improve communication and collaborate more intentionally on policies, resources and advising practices that directly impact transfer students.”
Discussions throughout the day centered around the advising experience at SCSU, accelerated online programs and campus safety, which included a presentation from St. Cloud Police Department Chief Jeff Oxton.
The day concluded with a tour of several departments on campus, such as meteorology, nursing, the SCSU Career Center and a newly updated SCSU Transfer Center.
“We are grateful to all the advisors who took the time to participate and contribute to these conversations,” Schleppenbach added. “The ideas, feedback and shared perspectives from the day will help guide future improvements in providing a seamless, student-centered transfer experience.”
