St. Cloud State University alumna Carissa Natalia Baconguis ’24 has been named the 2025 Distinguished Thesis Award recipient.

Her thesis, “Sacred and Perishable Country of Want: Poems,” was submitted for consideration by Dr. Sarah Green, associate professor of English. The abstract is available to read in the SCSU Repository.

A thesis is the culmination of a graduate student’s significant scholarly activity that demonstrates the student’s mastery of the background and principal works of the field of study.

The completion of a thesis requires a commitment of time and energy from the student, the thesis chair, the thesis committee and the graduate program faculty.

Baconguis graduated from SCSU in May 2024 with a Master of Arts in English Studies.
