St. Cloud State University hosted eight educators from six Minnesota schools for the Xcel Signature Solar Solutionaries teacher training experience last month.
We Care Solar delivered the workshop through two Minnesota science teachers. Educators received hands-on experience building Solar Suitcase Learning Kits while exploring a renewable energy curriculum. Teachers also took Solar Suitcase’s back to their schools for classroom use.
The workshop combined practical activities with opportunities to connect solar energy education to Minnesota communities and careers. Educators heard from guest speakers representing Minnesota State, CERTS and lead sponsor Xcel Energy. They also visited the Sherco Solar facility near Becker, allowing participants to see solar energy in a local community and learn more about its connection to jobs.
The program is expected to reach more than 1,500 students during the 2026–27 school year, providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that build STEM skills and renewable energy literacy.
