African poetry, dance, performances and more will be on display as the African Student Association celebrates its “The Year of Legacy” cultural night at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Atwood Memorial Center.

The event begins with a dinner at 5 p.m. followed by a show at 7 p.m. featuring a speaker, performances, poetry, dancing, singing and a fashion show.
Comprised of students of African descent, the African Student Association meets regularly to share culture and to support one another and educate one another.
The group invites the campus community and members of the public to learn about the different cultures of Africa during the event, including the different dress, food, traditions and people, said Sukaje Lowala, of the African Student Association.
Admission is $10 for students or $12 for the public.
Cultural festivals are one way the university is providing a transformative educational experience for students to help prepare them to be global citizens at home, at work and in their communities. More than 1,000 students from 90-plus nations attend St. Cloud State, and cultural festivals give them an opportunity to share elements of their culture with the campus community.
