Belinda Lee ’16 ’20 is serving as a U.S. State Department Youth Ambassador and is one of 75 USA Pavilion Youth Ambassadors representing the United States at the World’s Fair, Expo 2020 Dubai.
She was chosen through a highly competitive nationwide process. The participating youth ambassadors are from 46 states, studying at 78 U.S. universities and colleges and speak 24 languages to represent the diversity and dynamism of the United States, according to the U.S. Department of State.
Lee and the rest of the youth ambassadors are engaging visitors to the pavilion on American values, innovation, history and culture. The pavilion’s theme is “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of the Future” and highlights the history of U.S. invention up to today’s innovators and companies.
This is the first time the World Expo is being held in the Middle East.
“I truly appreciate everyone who has encouraged, supported, and followed me throughout the years,” Lee posted on social media announcing her post. “I am excited to continue my adventures with my amazing fellow Youth Ambassadors.”
Lee graduated from St. Cloud State with an undergraduate degree in Travel and Tourism in 2016 and a master’s degree in College Counseling and Student Development in 2020. She also previously served as the interim director of Education Abroad at St. Cloud State.
