St. Cloud State University’s Master of Engineering Management and Executive Master of Engineering Management programs are tied for 62nd in the nation in U.S. News and World Report’s ranking for Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs for 2021.
St. Cloud State scored highest in engagement in the engagement category. As one of only seven master’s programs in Engineering Management in the United States certified by the American Society for Engineering Management, this high-demand master’s program was created for students who want to pursue technical leadership roles and is an alternative to more traditional MBA programs.
Each course in the Master of Engineering Management program is designed to help build a successful career, including those in quality engineering, supply chain management, global sourcing, project management or business analyst positions.
Attracting students from both business and engineering backgrounds who want to pursue advanced careers, the Master of Engineering Management program works to develop leaders through hands-on, capstone projects with major companies and organizations, giving students real-world, on-the-job experience while enrolled.
Students graduating from the program are eligible to obtain the Certified Associate in Engineering Management (CAEM) title from the American Society for Engineering Management without sitting for a separate certification exam. Students are also able to obtain Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification through a collaboration with the program and Minnesota State Colleges and gain Certified Associate in Project Management (CAMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, through the Project Management Institute. The faculty teaching the course is PMP and CSM certified.
“The improvement this year is a testament to the hard work of the faculty in the program and the support from the School of Graduate Studies,” said Dr. Ben Baliga, program director.
Working from a model of lifelong mentorship, the faculty of the master of engineering management program stay in touch with students well into their careers, providing on-going support and guidance well beyond graduation, demonstrating a commitment that goes well beyond the traditional student/professor relationship, supporting alumni throughout their career.
