Professional Esports player and shoutcaster Noah Kylander is St. Cloud State University’s first Esports coach.
Kylander has competed in Esports professionally in Call of Duty, H1Z1 and Rocket League. He will coach St. Cloud State’s first Esports competitive team in Rocket League this fall.
The new team is a part of campus-wide expansion into Esports that includes academic programs, dedicated lounge spaces, a residential themed community and camps for high school students.
Kylander was a three-sport athlete in high school and turned his competitive spirit to gaming while a college student at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.
“My love for Esports has grown exponentially over the years,” Kylander said. “I have developed a high IQ for the games I compete in and want to share that knowledge with other passionate players. That is how I found my love for coaching.”
Kylander has coached multiple teams in Rocket League and led coaching sessions and replay reviews for his own teams.
“I feel like my contributions to the St. Cloud State University Rocket League program will not only help develop the skills and gameplay of these talented individuals, but also create a fun and welcoming atmosphere that will benefit the Esports program overall,” he said.
St. Cloud State Esports incorporates two campus Esports lounges, a residential Esports lounge and a new Esports Management Minor being offered by Herberger Business School this fall.
