The St. Cloud State University Veterans Resource Center supports military and veteran-connected students in their goal of achieving academic success, providing service members and their families the support and resources they need to transition to an academic setting.
One way of showcasing that support is through the Student Veteran Emergency Fund, which provides financial emergency assistance for military-connected students. Other donations to the Veterans Resource Center also go to assist with veteran and military scholarships, military/veteran programming on campus, and much more.
To go along with the continued contributions and support shown to the Student Veteran Emergency Fund, the Veterans Resource Center submitted a grant for funding last November from Tee It Up for the Troops, an organization that supports programs that deliver critical services to help veterans transition from the battlefront to the home front.
In January, General Lang (Ret.) and Colonel Pearson (Ret.) from Tee It Up for the Troops and members of the St. Cloud-based Freedom Flight presented the Veterans Resource Center with a donation check to assist veteran students at St. Cloud State. This marks the third time that Tee It Up for the Troops has supported the Veterans Resource Center and St. Cloud State, having donated over $30,000 since 2017. The organization also hosts a local military charity event each year at the St. Cloud Country Club, and St. Cloud State has assisted with the event by providing volunteers.
“Financial strain and unexpected challenges create much unneeded stress and anxiety for our students while pursuing a degree,” said Zac Mangas, Director of the Veterans Resource Center. “It is a huge help to have wonderful community supporters and alumni who donate to specifically help our student veterans facing these challenges. Thank you to Tee It Up for the Troops for their support!”
St. Cloud State’s Student Emergency Fund allows our students the opportunity to receive assistance as early as within 24 hours. A veteran or service member attending St. Cloud State can contact the Veterans Resource Center at any time while enrolled and request emergency funding in the amount up to $500 to assist with situations impacting their ability to be successful. It is a one-time request, and students can contact 320-308-2958 for assistance.
