St. Cloud State University celebrated its first-generation students, faculty and staff in the Atwood Memorial Center on Nov. 8 during F1rst-Generation Celebration Day.
F1rst-Generation Celebration Day is part of an annual, national effort to raise awareness for first-generation college students and their experiences. First-generation students are individuals whose parents did not receive a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
During the event on campus, attendees connected with other first-generation students, faculty and staff, learned about campus resources and showed their pride in being first generation at SCSU. A F1rst-Gen Student Voice Panel followed the celebration, providing a chance to hear first-generation experiences while learning how to best support them.
