Huskies Invent returns on March 22, offering a unique challenge for students from Thermo-Tech Premium Windows and Doors.
Huskies Invent is a weekend “Invent-a-thon”, where student teams have 48 hours to develop and present their unique solutions to real-world problems from industry partners.
Past editions have been sponsored by Park Industries, DeZURIK and Coldspring, while this year Thermo-Tech will be presenting problems that require innovative solutions.
The problems will come in the area of automation and control, but more than just technical specialists are needed. Like in the workforce, teams are looking for students with skills in leadership and communication to effectively problem-solve.
“Huskies Invent places our student teams in front of real challenges right from the manufacturing floor and has them working directly with industry mentors throughout the weekend,” said Mark Schroll, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Technological Studies. “Our industry partners get to know and work closely with our students and staff.
“The entire hands-on, roll up your sleeves, problem-solving weekend is one of many ways SCSU showcases its commitment to connecting with our community and providing active, relevant and engaging learning opportunities for our students,” he continued. “It is a sincere win-win-win for all involved and truly exciting to see what the students teams design, build and present.”
The event begins at 4 p.m. in ISELF on March 22, concluding at 6 p.m. on March 24.
The deadline for sign-ups is March 6.
