St. Cloud State hosts Information Assurance, Network and Software Security Symposium

St. Cloud State University is hosting the Information Assurance, Network and Software Security Symposium (IANSS) from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, May 1, in the Cascade Room, Atwood Memorial Center, on campus.

The workshop is designed to increase understanding of the nation’s network and software security, protect the national information infrastructure against threats and better equip future computer security professionals.

The symposium will bring together academic, business, government and industry professionals interested in information assurance, network and software security, while providing an opportunity for professionals across varying disciplines to meet, network and discuss computer security in college and university settings. Attendees also will earn a Computer and Security Certificate.

IANSS will include several programs and speakers, such as “N-Variant Systems: Security through Diversity” with John C. Knight, University of Virginia; “Language-based Software Security” with Father Boniface Hicks, Saint Vincent College; “Anonymous Communications” with Nicholas J. Hopper, University of Minnesota; “Security in Cyber-Physical Systems” with Bruce McMillin, Missouri University of Science and Technology; and a panel discussion about future trends in the field.

IANSS is made possible by funds from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities’ Center for Teaching and Learning and from the Office of the Chancellor.
