More than 100 students from Nankai University Binhai College in Tianjin, China, are expected to arrive at St. Cloud State University in fall 2016 thanks to a unique partnership between the two universities.
Students from Binhai College will spend two years studying in Tianjin and two years studying at St. Cloud State in order to earn their degree through the new 2+2 Bachelor of Science of Finance program. The courses will be taught in Mandarin and English, allowing students to learn from Chinese and American teachers.
Another group of 100 will arrive in fall of 2017. The university is estimating that there will be approximately 200 Nankai University Binhai College students on campus at any given time.
“The most obvious benefit (of the program) is the increase in enrollment and opportunity for us to learn from and with the Chinese students,” said Thy Yang, associate vice president for international studies.
Through the agreement, St. Cloud State faculty will live in Tianjin and teach courses in English as a second language and finance at Nankai University Binhai.
