Michael Skovera, biomedical sciences major, proposed to Kayla Huberty at center ice during Late Skate, sponsored by the University Program Board in the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center on Valentine’s Day — and she said yes.
The couple met in high school, but didn’t start dating until April 2012 shortly after Skovera joined the Army National Guard.
