Husky Productions students Elizabeth Burda, Patrick Crooks, Brittany Rooney and Matt Bohach will accept a Best of Festival award at a national convention April 13 in Las Vegas.
They are among 17 UTVS TV, Husky Productions and KVSC 88.1 FM students honored by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Festival of Media Arts, an annual media-arts competition for faculty and students.
The student sports Best of Festival award was for a 2014 TV broadcast of a men’s Huskies Hockey game. Husky Productions earned Best of Festival nods in 2013 and 2011.
Competing against schools such as University of Florida, San Francisco State University and Arizona State University, St. Cloud State won:

UTVS News crew includes nearly 25 students. The Husky Productions (HP) division manages broadcasts of Huskies Athletics events, including women’s and men’s Huskies Hockey games with a crew of more than 20 people. HP broadcasts are sometimes carried by regional and national networks.
KVSC 88.1 FM is an independent community radio station licensed to St. Cloud State.
BEA’s 60th Convention and 13th Festival of Media Arts is April 12-15 at the Las Vegas Westgate. Winners were selected from more than 1,300 entries. Entries from more than 150 colleges and universities were judged in the these categories: Audio, video, documentary, interactive multimedia, news, scriptwriting, sports and two-year/small colleges.
The festival is sponsored by BEA and the Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation.
