St. Cloud Times — Two federal government agencies have again recognized St. Cloud State University for its information assurance programs.
The National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security last named St. Cloud State a Center for Academic Excellence, or CAE, in 2009. This designation should last through 2021, according to Mark Schmidt, founder and director of the university’s Center for Information Assurance Studies.
St. Cloud State is one of six CAE schools in Minnesota and about 180 in the U.S., comprising about 4 percent of degree-granting institutions. The list has grown from seven since the CAE program began in 1998 — a product of demand, Schmidt said.
