Earth Day running events signal spring in St. Cloud

St. Cloud Times — For Chris Humbert, there’s a sure sign that warmer weather is on the way.

It’s not when the snow melts, the robins return, or when the leaves again begin to appear on the trees.

Rather, for the coach and teacher at Mound Westonka High School, it’s when he makes his annual trip back to St. Cloud to run the Earth Day Half-Marathon.

The 16th edition of the race begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday on the campus of St. Cloud State University. And, as he has been the past 15 years, the 1987 St. Cloud State University graduate again plans to be at the starting line when the gun sounds.
