Professor Steve Hoover will serve as interim dean for the School of Education for a two year term beginning June 1. Hoover will work alongside current Dean Osman Alawiye until June 30.
A national search will be conducted in Fall 2016 for the permanent dean.
Hoover joined the St. Cloud State faculty in 1989, teaching educational psychology, life-span development and research methods. He has served twice as a department chair. He also has been an interim assistant dean in the College of Education, mediation coordinator and most recently Interim Associate Provost for Faculty and Student Affairs. Hoover has also offered the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program on campus for faculty and staff.
“I am confident that his experiences in education will provide excellent leadership for the work of the School of Education,” said Richard Green, interim provost and academic vice president. “He will work closely with the staff and faculty in the school to ensure that ongoing initiatives and activities will carry on.”
