President Earl H. Potter III, manufacturing executive Brandon Anderson ’96 and agriculture commissioner Dave Frederickson ’68 are participating in the Aug. 9-13 State of Minnesota Trade Mission to Mexico.
Gov. Mark Dayton is leading the delegation, which also includes Steven Rosenstone, chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system (MnSCU). The delegation is seeking stronger business, education and cultural ties with Minnesota’s second-largest export market and the world’s 15th-largest economy.

Potter expects to sign agreements with three universities for exchange of students, scholars and research. Rosenstone anticipates signing an agreement with the Mexican ministry of education, which will lay the ground work for partnerships with MnSCU colleges and universities.
Anderson is president of Von Ruden Manufacturing, Buffalo, Minnesota, which manufactures hydraulics and other mechnical systems for small, motor-powered tools. He holds a marketing degree from St. Cloud State.
Commissioner Frederickson is a former state senator for western Minnesota and the former president of the Minnesota Farmers Union and National Farmers Union. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and farmed for more than 20 years.
About 45 Minnesotans will travel to Mexico. The Minnesota Trade Office, a division of the Department of Employment and Economic Development, will manage the mission.
St. Cloud State is one of 31 schools in MnSCU, the state’s largest provider of higher education.
