Nay Ah Shing’s newest educators

Mille Lacs Messenger — Heather Sasse is the new full-time guidance counselor at Nay Ah Shing after completing her post master’s certificate in school counseling at St. Cloud State University.

She started at Nay Ah Shing in February 2014 as an intern.  “This year I want to focus on preparing our students for their futures beyond high school. I am partnering with Amanda Sorby, the high school social studies teacher, to launch a college/career training course,” Sasse said. “The goal of this program is to better prepare our students for entering the workforce, pursuing higher education, and/or being prepared to be a great role model for their children and contributing members of the community.”

Sasse joined Nay Ah Shing staff because she was looking for opportunities to increase cultural awareness, and work with a high risk populations, she said.
