Students and employees celebrated the 100th anniversary of Shoemaker Hall, the three-wing student residence at the south end of campus this September.

Shoemaker Hall opened in September 1915 after a year of construction at a cost of $80,000. It is named for alumnus, faculty member and St. Cloud State President Waite Shoemaker. A new addition, the east and west wings, opened in 1960 at a cost of $1.4 million.

The original hall was renovated in 2011 with the additions renovated in 2014. The renovations included a new technology room, new floor lounges, updated bathrooms, new lobby furniture and move-able room furniture, among other upgrades.
Students, faculty, staff and alumni returned to celebrate the 100th anniversary during Fall Celebrate! with a reception and program and tours of the hall.
