Detroit Free-Press — Detroit Red Wings veteran Niklas Kronwall makes it look easy and flawless as he moves the puck down the ice.
Promising prospect Nick Jensen knows if he is to play defense in the regular season for Detroit, he’d better take a page out of Kronwall’s book of plays during exhibition games.
Jensen, 25, is battling to make the roster after scoring six goals with 21 assists in 75 games last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League.
Picked in the fifth round (150th overall) by Detroit in the 2009 draft, the 6-foot, 196-pound Jensen is on the right track but knows he must take his game to the next level.
“The biggest thing I want to improve on is playing consistent hockey,” said Jensen, who is from St. Paul, Minn., and played at St. Cloud State.
