St. Cloud Times — At 22, Clare Richards is a budding young professional. A Sauk Centre native and a graduate of St. Cloud State University, Richards has been an assistant art director for Leighton Interactive for almost two years.
Even with her busy schedule, Richards still desires to give back to the community she and her husband Brandon, 23, call home.
“I was looking for volunteering opportunities and it just wasn’t working out,” she said. “I would look for an opportunity and I couldn’t be available at the time they needed me, or I would learn more about the group and be like ‘This is amazing,’ but it just (didn’t) fit in where I wanted to go.”
After discussing her frustrations with her boss in January, Richards said her boss told her about Rotaract, a volunteer organization similar to the international service organization Rotary — but for young people.
“I was like ‘Where do I sign up?’ ” Richards said.
The St. Cloud area did not have a Rotaract. But that has not stopped Richards from pursuing the idea.
