Alan Amdahl ’99, an economics teacher at Albany Area High School, has earned the 3M Economic Educator Excellence Award from the Minnesota Council on Economic Education as a part of its EconFest.
The Economic Educator Excellence Award recognizes one teacher annually who has a sustained history of commitment and contribution to economic education.
In receiving this award, judges considered leadership in economic education, sustained commitment, continuing preparation and contributions to students’ intellectual growth.
“I like to have lots of scenarios and simulations that can make examples come to life,” Amdahl said in a statement to the St. Cloud Times announcing the award. “I really like to see students having fun with economics – a class they would probably assume to be very dry and uninteresting.”
Amdahl has taught in Albany for 24 years. He will be honored Nov. 5 in Arden Hills and will receive $1,500 with the award.
